Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve energy absorption properties of the composite fender body, by incorporating the main fender body and the rubber elastic body that partly fill the hollow space of the main fender body.
CONSTITUTION: The rubber elastic body 5 is mounted on the inner surface 4 of the inner hollow space of the main fender body 2 which consists of rubber elastic materials. This rubber elastic body 5 has an inner hollow space 6, cylindrically shaped with a collar 7 at one end. Its length of L is to be more than 40% of H, the height of inner hollow space. The composite fender 1 with such an arrangement is equipped with a buffer plate 11 mounted by the bolt 9 on the flange 10 of the fender 2, and is mounted to the quay wall 12 with the anchor bolt 11. The longer the length of the elastic body 5 of the fender 1, the better the energy absorption properties of both the normal and slanted contacts of the ship.
