Abstract

CONSTITUTION: (A) 10W94pts.wt. vinyl monomer selected from an alkyl (meth) acrylate, an hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, having a 1W4C alkyl group, and styrene, are mixed with (B) 90W6pts.wt. organic acid (e.g., acrylic acid or oleic acid), essentially containing at least about 5wt% dibasic carboxylic acid monoester of the formula (wherein R1 is an 8W10C hydrocarbon; R2 is a 1W7C hydrocarbon)(e.g., mono-2-ethylhexyl maleate). Then the titled plastic material is obtained by the polymerization of the resulting mixture in the presence of a lead compound such as lead monoxide or lead acetate.
