Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a synthetic resin composition having excellent optical transparency and mechanical properties and neutron radiation shielding ability, by polymerizing a base monomer together with specific amount of cadmium (meth) acrylate and a metal salt of an organic acid.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Alkyl(1-4C) methacrylate and/or styrene base monomers are compounded with (B) cadmium (meth)acrylate (15 - 85 wt.% on the basis of the whole monomers), and (C) a metal salt of an organic acid expressed by the formula (RCOO)nM (M is Na, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Hg or Sn; n is the atomic valence of the metal; R is 4-19C hydrocarbon), (0.2 - 1.5 moles per 1 mole of the component (B)), and polymerized.
EFFECT: Easily processable.
