Abstract

CONSTITUTION: An olefin is polymerized by use of a catalyst system consisting of a hydrocarbon-insoluble solid component obtained by treating a mixture or a reaction product prepared by mixing or reacting halogen compounds or organic oxygen compounds, of Ti, V and Hf with a mixture or a reaction product of at least two organoaluminum dihalide compounds (e.g., a mixture or a reaction product obtained by mixing or reacting an organoaluminum-dichloride compound with an organoaluminum dibromide compound in an atomic ratio Cl/Br of 0.2W5), and of an organic Al compound (e.g., triethylaluminum). It is possible to easily prevent an abnormal flow phenomenon of a molten polymer, occuring when a catalyst prepared by use of an organoaluminum halide compound having a single halogen atom is used.
