Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled member composed of a drug-retaining layer and a specific releasing layer, and capable of administering the drug continuously at a controlled rate through the epidermis or the mucous membrane.
CONSTITUTION: The objective drug administration member 1 is composed of a drug-retaining layer 11 and a releasing layer 12 applied at least one surface of the layer 11 and capable of releasing active drug continuously to the epidermis or the mucous membrane of the body. The releasing layer 12 is composed of a porous membrane (e.g. a porous polypropylene membrane having a thickness of 25μ, max. pore diameter of 0.2μ, and a porosity of 38%) and a liquid (e.g. olive oil) filled in the pore of the membrane. The liquid has restricted solubility and controlled rate of diffusion for the active drug. The member can be used by releasing the releasable protecting film 4 from the member 1, and applying to the epidermis or the mucous membrane through the pressure-sensitive adhesive 31. The active drug migrates through the releasing layer 12 continuously at a constant rate to the epidermis, etc.
