Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the higher catalytic active capacity at low temperature and longer life by applying chrome plating to porous metal carrier to form an intermediate layer and dispersing and depositing platinum group metal particles thereon. CONSTITUTION:Chrome plating, preferably electroplating of chromium is applied to porous metal carrier, preferably metal carrier composed fully or primarily of nickel or chromium. Thence, metal particles composed fully or primarily of platinum group metal particles, preferably palladium, are dispersed and deposited by a wet or dry type plating method on the metal carrier having undergone said chrome plating.
