Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency and accuracy of coherent addition of reflected electric waves and miniaturize an antenna in a surveying device, by designing the device such that a beam of sound waves and transmitting and receiving beams of electric waves are aligned with each other.
CONSTITUTION: The sound waves radiated from a primary sound wave radiator 21 are reflected on a parabolic reflector 23 to advance in the upward direction. The electric waves radiated from a primary electric wave radiator 22, which utilizes a reflector-carrying dipole, are reflected on the reflector 23, on which both sound waves and electric waves are reflected, to advance in the upward direction. Thus, the center of a sound radiation beam and that of an electric wave radiation beam are substantially in agreement with each other. Accordingly, the relation between the propagation of sound waves and the reflection of electric waves is as shown in curves in the drawing. The incident angle θ2 of electric waves with respect to the sound wave surface is 1/2 of that in a conventional device of this kind. Thus, the efficiency of coherent addition of reflected electric waves can be improved.
