Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an ornamental alloy gold resistant to oxidation discoloring and maintaining gold brightness for long periods by alloying 37.5W41.7% of Au and alloying metals Ag-Cu-Zn balance.
CONSTITUTION: A 9W10 class gold alloy is provided by alloying 37.5W41.7% of Au and 62.5W58.3% of alloying metals. The alloying metals are consisting of CU: 75.7W76.7%, Ag: 14.2W15.5%, and Zn: 7.8W10.1%. Further addition of 1W5% of one or more selected from Pt, Pd, Ru, Sn is effective. The gole alloy is equivalent to 9W10 class gold and provides an ornamental gold alloy which requires no plating, is resistant to discoloring due to oxidation, has high hardness, and maintains gold brightness for long periods.
