Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate red-luminescent Eu-activated yttrium oxysulfide and blue- and green-luminescent zinc sulfide-based phosphor by a method wherein recovered inorganic pigment-coated phosphor undergoes surface treatment with aqueous calcium hydroxide solution and then is deposited with inorganic pigment.
CONSTITUTION: Colored phosphor recovered from waste development solution as solid component is washed with aq. alkali solution at room temperature to 100°C to dissolve slurry components such as polyvinyl alcobol and ammonium dichromate and pigment binders such as gelatin and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The phosphor is then thoroghly washed with water and centrifugal treatment and undergoes surface treatment with 0.01wt% or more aqueous calcium hydroxide solution. Next, centrifugation, etc. is used for dehydration and drying of phosphor, and supplementary inorganic pigment is deposited by means of gelatin-gum arabic process or gelatin- polyvinylpyrrolidone process. This provides reusable colored phosphor.
