Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a protective (insulating) layer at high operability without impairing characteristics of a photoconductive layer, by hardening a specified hardenable resin composition coated on the photoconductive layer by electron beam irradiation.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer having a hydroxy group and a polymerizable unsaturated group is added to an urethane compound prepared by reacting diisocyanate and polyol to give an urethane combined unsaturated resin (a) having an unsaturation degree of 1.5W3.3 (mole of unsaturated group per kg of resin), and 2.2W 6.6 urethane bonds per skeleton. A resin composition (varnish) consisting of resin (a) 100pts.wt.; an unsaturated monomer, such as acrylic ester or styrene, 5W300 pts.wt.; and an organic solvent is coated on a photoconductive layer and hardened by electron beam irradiation. A sufficient thickness of the film to be formed is about 10μ or more for a protective film, and preferable thickness is 10W50μ for an insulating layer.
