Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound having high heat-stability, transparency, etc., easily, without a troublesome treatment, by neutralizing an acidic substance in a reaction solution containing a high-boiling ester useful as a plasticizer, only with an aqueous ammonia, under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of aliphatic carboxylic esters by the esterification reaction of aliphatic carboxylic acids, such as valeric acid and caproic acid, and alcohols such as butanol or by the ester interchange reaction of lower alkyl esters of alipatic carboxylic acids and alcohols in the presence of an acid catalyst such as p-toluenesulfonic acid, an acidic substance which exists in a reaction solution containing said ester products, is neutralized with an aqueous solution containing at least 1wt%, preferably 3W15wt%, of ammonia, in the temperature range of above room temperature, especially 40W60°C. In addition, the ratio of the weight of aqueous ammonia to that of the reaction solution containing ester products is preferably 0.15W0.5.
