Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve product plate width accuracy by controlling the plate width errors on the exit side of roughing mills by the tension between finishing stands through feed-forward controlling.
CONSTITUTION: From the plate width detection values by a plate width detector 4, plate width errors are subsequently stored in a plate width deviation memory device 8 at the predetermined spacing from the leading end of the rolling material with a plate width error operating unit 7. The timing at which a certain portion of the rolling material arrives at each stand of the finishing mills is adjusted with a synchronizing device 9 and the plate width error of that portion having been stored in the memory device 8 is read out with a read-out unit 10. From this plate width error, the tension correction amount between the stands is operated with a tension correction amount operating unit 11 and the stand roll rotating speed correction amount is obtained by a stand roll rotating speed correction amount operating unit 14 and is inputted to a stand roll rotating speed control unit 15. Thereby, the tension between the stands is controlled to the target tension.
