Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove oxide scale rapidly and effectively by introducing a hot rolled strip into a pickling cell, adding repeated bending treatment in the pickling solution then polishing its surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A strip 15 after hot rolling is introduced into a pickling solution 2. While tension is being given thereto with pinch rolls 8, the strip is subjected to repeated bending treatment by way of plural bend-working roll groups 4-7. This produces crazing in the scale layers of the strip surfaces, thereby promoting the penetration of the pickling solution. Thence, the strip is once pulled up and is returned to free loop form, after which it is again introduced into the pickling solution and is surface-polished by way of brushing roll groups 11, 12. The strip having been pickled by this method exhibits a sufficient iron ground exposure rate in a short time.
