Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily control the electron beam focusing, by concentrically providing on the periphery of the neck portion of a CRT a permanent magnet for over-focusing the electron beam and an exciter coil for producing a magnetic field in the direction opposite to that of said permanent magnet.
CONSTITUTION: The electron beam focusing magnetic device 7 mounted on the neck portion 1 of a CRT comprises an exciter coil 11, a permanent magnet 10, and a pair of yokes 12, 12 disposed at the opposite ends of these elements. The permanent magnet 10 is magnetized so as to over-focus the electron beam, and the focusing condition of the electron beam is adjusted by controlling the current supplied to th exciter coil 11 producing a magnetic field in the direction opposite to that of the permanent magnet. The temperature of the permanent magnet 10 is detected by a sensor 13 and an output thereof is supplied as an input to a control circuit (not shown in the figure) for the exciter coil 11, so that the temperature variation of the magnetic field of the permanent magnet is compensated.
