Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to identify the direction of flow of the fluid, by providing the two sets of Kalman's vortex producing units in fluid, and discriminating the phase of the Karman's vortex signal received with the two sets of reception transducers.
CONSTITUTION: Fluid flows in the tube 1 toward the arrow A or B. In this case, the ultrasonic beam 7 emitted from the transmission transducer 6 is modulated at the Karman vortex street 4 up and down, received with the reception transducers 8, 9, and converted into electric signal from audio signal. The output signal from the reception transducers 8, 9 is respectively demodulated at the detectors 10, 11, and shaped at the wave shape circuits 12, 13. Further, the both signals having the phase difference are fed to the phase discrimination circuit 14 consisting of D type FF from the wave shape circuits 12, 13. The phase difference is represented as Δθ= 2πL/l. Where: L is the distance between the reception transistors 8 and 9, and l is the distance between the centers of Karman vortex. By discriminating the said both signals at the discriminating circuit 14, the flow of fluid can be identified.
