Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate need for a special power source for driving a pump and enhance economy by a method wherein a metering fuel pump is composed of a device for constantly forming a predetermined liquid surface level in a fuel tank and an axial-flow pump in which a turbine is rotated by compressed air flow.
CONSTITUTION: With a motor 4 driven for operating a petroleum combustor, a suction fan 5 and an exhaust fan 8 rotate synchronously. Air compressed by the fan 5, on one hand, feeds conbustion air into a combustor 3 through a passage 7 and, on the other hand, is introduced into the air turbine chamber 25 of an axial- flow pump 12 through a passage 30, before jetted from air holes 28 to pressure receiving plates 26 for rotating a turbine 27. A turbine 20 integrally coupled with the turbine 27 by a spindle 22 rotates; the fuel in a fuel tank 16 develops a rotational flow in a pump casing 19 and converted into an axcial flow by a stator 21, then the fuel is fed from a pump chamber 31 to the combustor 3 through a passage 32.
