Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform welding with correct welding current and prevent the formation of blow holes, etc. by removing the oxide films, etc. deposited on the surface of filler rod immediate before welding. CONSTITUTION:In welding of light metal material such as Al, an electrode wire 10 is continuously let off by the pressing force of a grinding-metal-pressing spring 16 and bolt 17 and the operation of electric feed rollers at the center of the wire grinding blades 13, 14, 15 in a blade case 11 prior to welding, by which its surface is ground and oxide films are removed as debris, thence it is fed into a torch. Since this wire 10 becomes weld metal while it has no time to combine with the oxygen in air, the airtightness and mechanical properties of the weld metal are improved. Equally good results may be obtained by providing an alkali cleaning device in place of the grinding device and chemically removing the oxide films.
