Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the optimum control to make desired speed the speed of the tail end of material just passing over the reducing roll, by inputting outputs of the material's tail end detector, the speed detector, the pulse generator and the roll diameter setter, to the arithmetic control unit in order to perform a series of operations.
CONSTITUTION: At first, the arithmetic control unit 8 counts the pulse generated by the pulse generator 5 while the tail end of material 1 travels from the material's tail end detector S2 to the material's tail end detector S1, and calculates the backward slip A of the material 1 against the reducing roll 2 according to the formula I. Besides, the unit 8 operates the slowdown timing, and calculates the material's tail end travel distance l since the tail end passes over the detector S1 till the timing for starting the slowdown, while the rolling speed of the roll 2 is slowed down to the speed of the tail end of material 1 just passing over the roll 2. At the moment that the pulse generator 5 generates the pulse l/(I21/N21) after the material's tail end passes over the detector S1, the unit 8 produces the slowdown signal to the drive controller 6. Accordingly, the optimum slowdown control can be performed against the rolling condition different for every material.
