Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the sludge dehydratability, to reduce the sludge generating amount and to attain the reduction of activated sludge treating time by a method wherein an O3,O2 containing gas is contacted with the sludge prior dehydration in the presence of iron ion and thereafter the exhaust gas is contacted with activated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water separated from raw sludge in a solid-liquid separating tank 4 is subjected to an aeration treatment in an aeration tank 8 and sent to a precipitation tank 12, thereafter the sludge is separated by precipitation and a supernatant is taken out to the outside of a system. A part of the sludge produced in a tank 12 is recirculated to a tank 8 and the remaining portion is sent along with the raw sludge to an ozone treating tank 26 through a concentration tank 22. The supernatant of a tank 22 is recirculated. The high concentrated oxygen from an oxygen supply source 28 is supplied to an ozone generator 32 and the generated O3, O2 containing gas is introduced into a tank 26 in the presence of iron salt supplied from an iron salt storage tank 36. The exhaust gas from a tank 26 is treated by ozone, thereafter introduced into activated sludge within a tank 8 and the highly concentrated oxygen is utilized availably. The sludge treated by O3 is sent to a dehydrating machine 44 and the dehydrated cake is taken out to the outside of a system and the separated water of a dehydrating machine 44 is recirculated to a tank 4.
