Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deposition of dusts and oxidize and remove malodorous constituents from a gas with a high contact efficiency, by annularly filling a granular catalyst in a cylinder made of an inner and an outer porous plates, rotating the cylinder around a horizontal axis and passing the gas through the annular catalyst layer almost in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION:A contacting device 1 comprises a double cylinder 4 made of an inner and an outer porous plates 2, 3 and a granular catalyst layer 5 filled in the annular opening defined between both the plates. The contact device is installed in a housing 6. One end of the cylinder 4 has a cylindrical gas inlet port 7 extending from the inner cylindrical plate 2 and is supported on a roller 8. The other end of the cylinder 4 is fitted with a bottom 9 coupled with a shaft 10, which is rotated to revolve the catalyst layer 5. A gas to be processed is introduced at 7 into the interior 23 of the cylindrical plate 2 and passed through the catalyst layer 5 almost in the radial direction as shown by an arrow in Fig. At that time, the gas is caused to perform prescribed contact reaction with the grains of the catalyst to remove the gas of malodorous constitutents. The processed gas is then discharged at 15 by an appropriate blower means.
