Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating waste fluid, wherein smelly steam containing large amounts of ammonium, etc. is blown into a pyrolysis chamber provided in the lower half portion of a pyrolysis furnace under a condition where the presence of oxygen is insufficient, so that generation of NOx and SOx will be suppressed.
CONSTITUTION: Concentrated filtrate and smelly steam are produced in a waste- heat concentrator 28. Spray of the concentrated filtrate is blown generally downwardly through an atomizer 21 into a flame 79 which is jetted generally downwardly through an auxiliary burner 63 at the top of an under-opened upright pyrolysis furnace 9 to evaporate and burn the sprayed concentrated filtrate in an evaporation and burning chamber 77 located at the upper half of the furnace to consume major part of oxygen present therein, so that the smelly steam containing ammonium and sulfides in large amounts will be pyrolytically decomposed in a pyrolysis furnace 78 located at the lower half of the furnace under a condition where the presence of oxygen is insufficient and therefore the formation of NOx, SOx, etc. is minimized.
