Abstract
PURPOSE: To heighten the selectivity for p-isomer and to obtain the above mentioned chemicals for organic synthesis intermediates, by using carbonaceous electrode combined or adsorbed cyclodextrin as anode and carrying out chlorination of anisole in the water solution of inorganic chloride or hydrochloric acid.
CONSTITUTION: Chlorination of anisole is carried out by electrode reaction under the following condition, using carbonaceous electrode combined or adsorbed cyclodextrin (preferably, α-cyclodextrin) as anode in the water solution of alkali (earth) metal chloride or hydrochloric acid (normally, concentration of 0.1W1mol/l is preferable). That is, electrode reaction is carried out keeping the reaction temperature at -20W50°C, preferably -10W30°C, controlling anode potential within the limits of +1W1.5V against saturated calomel electrode.
