Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform highly efficient dust collection with effective action of ion wind by a mechanism wherein ridges and valleys are formed on dust collect electrodes and alternately arranged to correspond to discharge electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: Dust collect electrodes are waved so that wave pitch of the wave 3A, 3B is nearly equal to the space P between discharge electrode 4. The dust collect electrodes are arranged so that the discharge electrodes 4 come to the center of waves whose ridges and valleys face each other. Electric field between the ridge of dust collect electrode and the discharge electrode becomes higher than that between the valley and discharge electrode. This causes ion wind to blow mainly from the discharge electrode to the ridge of dust collect electrode. The ion wind impinges on the ridge then flows along the dust collect electrode, and diffuses at both side of the ridge, i.e. the valley. This prevent ion wind from mutual collision and blow up. Thus, turbulent or eddy flow which causes dust redistribution is prevented.
