Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium featuring the high magnetism keeping power, narrow magnetism keeping power distribution width and small aging of the characteristics each, by coating the specific ferromagnetic metal powder on the substrate via the binding agent of the mixture of the isocyanate and the copolymer of functional group content vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate.
CONSTITUTION: The α-Fe2O3 powder is formed by heating and dehydrating the α-oxy-iron hydroxide obtained form the alkaline solution (preferably caustic potash, caustic soda for alkali material). This powder is then soaked into the silicone oil solution with the sintering preventing process applied and then receives the heat reduction to obtain the ferromagnetic metal powder. Thus the magnetic powder is coated on the substrate via the binding agent of the mixture of the vinyl chloride- vinyl acetate copolymer (like those manufactured by VAGH, UCC company) containing the hydroxyl group or the carboxyl group in the molecule and the isocyanate compound (like Takenate L-1007 manufactured by TAKEDA YAKUHIN KK). Thus the magnetic recording medium is obtained.
