Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium featuring the excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics and reduced electrification property by using the iron oxide magnetic powder containing Co and γ-Fe2O3 together in a specific ratio onto the surface of the recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: The γ-Fe2O3 powder, the iron oxide magnetic powder obtained by reducing partially the γ-Fe2O3 powder and others are diffused into the Co salt and the alkali aqueous solution of the equivalent (more than equivalent) to the Co salt and then treated at the temperature of under the boiling point.
