Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable a subject pipe to be molded with a low molding pressure applied and to reduce a process cost, by constituting molds such that an untreated pipe having a circular cross-section is molded monolithically by means of the upper and the lower molds to form a pipe having a deformed cross-section, and the upper mold is split at a portion whereat a portion having a small radius of curvature of the pipe having a deformed cross-section is molded.
CONSTITUTION: An untreated pipe 1 having a circular cross-section is placed between a lower mold 6 and an upper mold 4 comprising a split mold 4' whereat a portion having a small radius of curvature of a bent pipe with a deformed cross- section is molded, seal cylinders 2 being inserted into the ends of the pipe 1 to apply an internal pressure therein. The internal pressure of approximately 20kg/cm2 is then loaded to the untreated pipe 1 having a circular cross-section to prevent buckling, upper molds 4 and 4' being lowered monolithically to perform a bend- molding. Only the split mold 4' is then raised, the untreated pipe 1 being expanded with the internal pressure loaded. The internal pressure is reduced again to about 20kg/cm2, the split mold 4' being lowered to the original position. As a result of the bend-molding of the untreated pipe 1 being performed in the manner described above, a pipe having a desired deformed cross-section is formed.
