Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the rate of cooling a transition piece and liner in a combustion device for a gas turbine and simultaneously minimizing NOx content in a waste gas, by injecting water or low-temperature vapor into a nozzle disposed in opposition to an air ilet.
CONSTITUTION: A combustion device for a gas turbine is provided at a part of its reserver tank 1 with an air inlet 2 into which air from a compressor is introduced. The air introduced into the air inlet 2 flows around a transition piece 3 while cooling the same, and then through an annular space defined by the outer surface of a liner 4 and the inner surface of an outer cylinder 5. That part of the air which has not been used for diluting and cooling purposes is introduced in a position close to a fuel nozzle 6 into the liner 4 for a combustion purpose. An injection nozzle 8 is mounted at the air inlet 2, so as to inject water or low-temperature vapor thereinto, which is fed through an injection pipe 9 connected to the rear end of the nozzle 8. According to this structure, water or low-temperature vapor can be mixed excellently with the air introduced into the combustion device from the compressor owing to a reverse air current occurring in the tank 1.
