Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare feed for cattle and fish, having improved palatability and digestibility, and effective to prevent diseases, by adding a water-soluble calcium compound to feed, thereby neutralizing the existing unsaturated fatty acids which are a cause of feed-originated diseases.
CONSTITUTION: Shells are heated at ≥1100°C to obtain a calcined product (active calcium), which is added to feed such as raw fish, fish meal, cereals, sugar, etc. (the ratio of active calcium to the feed is about 0.01W1wt%). Addition of slight amounts of enzymes, Chlorella, vitamins, etc. further improves the growth of fish, etc. The active calcium activates the activity of bacteria, and improves the feed conversion. Since the additive improves the digestibility of the feed, it promotes the growth of cattle and fish.
