Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce photosensitive materials of high sensitivity with a small amount of selenium safely and at high productivity, by reducing the inorganic selenium compound in the presence of insulating polymer, and dispersing fine selenium in the polymer.
CONSTITUTION: An inorganic selenium compound which is relatively stable and free from offensive smell, such as SeO2 and selenious acid, is dissolved in a solvent which dissolves inorganic selenium compound, such as dimethyl formaldehyde, together with an insulating polymer (such as polymethacrylate), and a reducing agent (such as trimethyl hydroquinone) is added to this solution and agitated. This uniformly mixed solution is spread and dried on a substrate such as aluminum evaporated polyester film to produce photosensitve material. Thus, a photoreceptor of high sensitivity having fine Se particles dispersed uniformly is produced easily without requiring vapor deposition process. Also, the photo discharge characteristic of this photosensitive material may be excellent.
