Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily produce a seamless, large-sized dome (end plate) having a uniform metal flow in the radial direction, by forming a thick disc-shaped steel blank of which thickness is about more than 1.5 times the product thickness, into a spherical form by rotary expansion forging. CONSTITUTION:A plate-shaped upper anvil 13 (of which contact face 15 to a molding 20 should be as thick as possible) having a contour of a circle of outside diameter corresponding to the inside diameter of a product 20, with a circular end part 14 thereof being cut off horizontally, is vertically mounted on a pressing machine for processing 10 in a way rotatable more than 180 degrees, and a spherical lower anvil 11 having a spherical surface corresponding to the outside diameter of the product 20 formed in the inside is disposed in the lower part thereof. A disc-shaped steel blank 12 is placed on the lower anvil 11 and fitted horizontally, and the upper anvil 13 is pressed on the surface of the blank 12 while rotating gradually in the direction of arrow X by one pressing each. Thus, the blank 12 is gradually expanded to form a product 20 in dome shape.
