Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a circular base material with little deformation by setting a heated metal circular body on a surface plate; contacting a spherical body to the whole inner circumferential edge of the upper end of the circular body; and cooling the circular body while pressing the spherical body to the plate. CONSTITUTION:Metal circular body 1 heated to a predetermined treating temp. is rapidly mounted on flat surface plate 2. Pressing body 5 having under spherical surface 4 is pressed so that surface 4 is contacted to whole inner circumferential edge 3 of the upper end of body 1, and body 1 is cooled while applying a press. between body 1 and plate 2. Surface 4 applies force F2 for expanding body 1 in the diametrical direction as well as force F1 for pressing body 1 to the lower part, that is, to plate 2. Accordingly, body 1 is cooled while being maintained perfectly circular by the action of expanding force F2, thus effectively preventing appearance of a strain due to heat treatment.
