Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize and strengthen soil by uniformly injecting a chemical grout containing sodium silicate, sodium aluminate, and water-soluble borate, without any environmental pollutant, into soil.
CONSTITUTION: A chemical grout containing sodium silicate(A), sodium aluminate(B), and a water-soluble borate(C) is injected into soil to stabilize and strengthen the soil. As (A), a wide SiO2/Na2O mole ratio range (from less than 2.5 to approx. 3.3W4.5) of high-silicic acid-containing water glass can be used and its preferred concentration in chemical grout to be injected into soil is 10W30wt% (as sodium silicate effetive component). And, as (B), a Na2O/Al2O3 mole ratio(1.7W 2.6) of liquid sodium aluminates are suitable and used in a proportion of 5W50wt% on the basis of (A) in terms of its effective component. As (C), sodium metaborate, borax, etc., are used in a proportion of 10W50% on the basis of (B) in terms of its effective component.
