Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the leakage proof, raise the dimensional accuracy and to reduce the production of substandard batteries by forming the bottom of a metallic case, to which a gasket is pressed, thicker than the side wall of the metallic case. CONSTITUTION:The thickness (d1) of the bottom 7b of a circular metallic case 7 used as positive terminal is formed thicker than the thickness (d2) of the side wall 7c to provide higher rigidity for the bottom 7b than the side wall 7c. The rim part 7a of the case 7 covers the periphery of a gasket 8 fitted to the outwardly bent periphery 6a of the negative terminal 6. The rim part 7a is curled inward and firmly presses the gasket 8 to seal the voltaic element 9. In curling the rim part 7a, the bottom 7b of the case 7 is not deformed so that the battery formed in accurate dimensions and the voltaic element 9 is not unduely compressed thus preventing leakage of the electrolytic solution and the production of substandard batteries.
