Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent molten zinc from contacting to a strip side, not to be galvanized, by making the outside diamater of a central belly portion of a sink roll smaller; forming the whole roll or surface portions of both edges of the roll with stretching layers; and setting a strip winding start position over a galvanizing bath. CONSTITUTION:The outside diameter of central belly portion 4b of sink roll 4 in a continuously galvanizing line is made smaller than that of both edge portions 4a, and whole roll 4 or at least surface portions of edge portions 4a are formed with heat resistant stretching layers 5 such as glass wool. Roll 4 is rotatably supported so that winding start portion 8a and winding end portion 8b are placed over the surface of zinc bath 3 when strip 1 is wound and reversed. Thus, one side of strip 1 is continuously galvanized while preventing penetration of molten zinc between the closely contacted surfaces of strip 1 and roll 2.
