Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rotating device which is simple in its construction and shape and does not need external energy for rotation, by moving thin iron plates to and away from some portions of permanent magnets while keeping the distance between the iron plates and the magnets constant.
CONSTITUTION: Since the magnetic lines of force of magnetic poles of a rotor 2 covered with iron plates 3 are absorbed or blocked by the iron plates, the magnetic lines of force do not interact with those of permanent magnets 4, 9, 6, 7. However, the magnetic lines of force of the magnetic poles are attracted or repulsed by those of other permanent magnets 5, 8 which are not blocked by the iron plates 3. When the rotor 2 is located at the side of the N-pole of the permanent magent 4, the N-poles of the permanent magnets 5, 8 attract the S-poles of the rotor but repulse its N-poles. As a result, the rotor is rotated counterclockwise. When the action that the S-poles of the rotor 2 receive from the magnets 5, 8 decreasses, the S-poles attract the other magnets 4, 7 but the N-poles of the rotor repulse those of the magnets 5, 8. Therefore, the rotor is rotated further. When the shaft 1 of the rotor 2 is displaced in the direction of an arrow 11, the magnetic force weakens and the revolution speed of the rotor falls. When the rotor reaches a place shown by a dotted line, the direction of its rotation is reversed.
