Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic reducing solution capable of suppressing lowering of dot density and yet raising the speed of decrease (reduction) of dot sizes, by adding specified inorganic salts to an aqueous solution of a ceric compound and an inorganic acid. CONSTITUTION:To a reducing solution of an aqueous solution of ceric compound such as ceric sulfate and an inorganic acid such as sulfuric acid are added further an inorganic ammonium salt (a), such as ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, or ammonium chloride by about 0.1% or more; a borate such as borax (b) by about 0.1% or more; and an alum (c), such as potassium alum, chromium alum, or ammonium alum by about 0.1% or more.
