Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the glass fiber of high transmittance of light by forming the glass fiber to hollow, extracting the air of the inside and making a vacuum. CONSTITUTION:No intervention of any material and no presence of any gas naturally lead to a higher transmittance. Thereupon, forming a glass fiber to hollow and extracting the air from its inside to make a vacuum yield a glass fiber of the highest transmittance of light. This hollow glass fiber is made by inserting an air pressure feed pipe 4 which sends compressed air into the molten glass 5 of a melting furnace 10, pressure-feeding clean air by way of a compressor 13 or the like and taking out a hollow glass fiber 9 through a melt outlet 7. In this way, the hollow glass fiber of high light transmittance may be continuously produced.
