Abstract

PURPOSE: To miniaturize a chassis dynamometer while reducing cost, by providing a car to be tested with acceleration resistance and travelling resistance only by means of the dynamometer wherein a singular, inertial body is mounted.
CONSTITUTION: A singular, inertial body 14 is connected at the output side of a dynamometer 9, and a torque detector 15 is disposed between the dynamometer 9 and the inertial body 14. The torque detector 15 detects the accelerating torque of the inertial body 14 proportional to the acceleration resistance of car to be tested 1. A controller 16 to which constants beforehand set in response to the weight of the car to be tested 1 are memorized multiplies signals corresponding to the desired constant among the constants memorized and signals corresponding to the accelerating torque input through a lead wire 17 from the torque detector 15, and computes the acceleration resistance value of the car to be tested 1. Signals corresponding to the acceleration resistance value and signals corresponding to travelling resistance value corresponding to the car speed of the car to be tested are added, and the added output signals are supplied to the dynamometer 9 through a lead wire 18. Thus, torque corresponding to the sum of the acceleration resistance and the travelling resistance is given to the car to be tested 1 by means of the dynamometer 9.
