Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the oxygen-contained manganese compound film of superior adhesiveness to concrete and corrosion resistance by forming the manganese plating layer of the specific thickness to reinforcing bars then heating and drying the same.
CONSTITUTION: When a metal manganese plating layer of thicknesses 0.5W10μ is formed on reinforcing bar surfaces in an ordinary sulphate electrolytic plating bath, then the top layer surface is oxidized at the heat-drying with hot air or the like, whereby the oxygen-contained manganese compound film of thicknesses 400W 1000Å is formed. Since this protecting film has extremely high adhesiveness to concrete and corrosion resistance, the reinforcing bars thus made are ideally suited for reinforcing bars for concrete works used for paved roads provided with snow thawing facilities, ocean structures, dams and embankments, bridge legs, etc.
