Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the ozone generation efficiency of an ozonizer; prevent heat deterioration thereof due to discharge of dielectrics; and elongate the endurance year life thereof by forming each electrode into such a shape that the discharge area per space unit area becomes smaller at the lower course of each discharge space through which feed gas flows.
CONSTITUTION: The ozonizer is constructed by leaving each discharge space 3 also serving as a feed gas pass between two of a plurality of ceramic dielectrics 2 each internally provided with electrode 1 sealed, and feed gas such as air or oxygen flowing through spaces 3 in a direction perpendicular to this paper is exposed to silent discharge and ozonized. Each electrode 1 has many through holes 4 from the middle to the lower cource of each space 3, and by gradually increasing the no. of holes 4 in the feed gas flowing direction the discharge space per space unit area becomes smaller in the lower course region of space 3. Thus, discharge power becomes lower in the region where the concn. of ozone is raised, so power inputted can be utilized effectively as a whole. In addn., generation of heat due to discharge is reduced in the region of the highest temp. to control deterioration of dielectrics 2.
