Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize high speed printing of high reliability by determining individual turns of the type wheel axis to be letter selection process, printing process and resetting process respectively, wherein a printer provided with type wheels, a type wheel axis turning three times in one printing cycle, letter selecting means, letter printing means, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A printer comprises type wheels 2, a type wheel axis 1, magnetic poles 43 for letter selection, a printing ring 52, etc. Each printing cycle is composed of continual three turns in the same direction of the type wheel axis 1 driven by a motor M through a gear G1 and others. That is to say, a letter is selected by electrifying a coil 44 for letter selection according to the first turn of the type wheel axis 1, and the printing is performed by pressing the printing paper against the selected letters with the eccentrically turned printing ring 52 fitted to an eccentric portion 51 of a platen axis 5 in the second turn. The resetting process is then brought by the third turn and, at the same time, the printing paper is fed as much as one line space by the workings of a paper feed cam 61 and others.
