Abstract

PURPOSE: A curing accelerator for epoxy resins having improved curing acceleration effect, prepared by adjusting a mixture of a specific amine, p-toluenesulfonic acid, and a liquid polyethylene glycol to a given pH with a metal borofluoride.
CONSTITUTION: An acid compound consisting of p-toluenesulfonic acid and/or cresol, and a liquid polyethylene glycol as a diluent are added to a mixture of one or two or more types of compounds selected from tertiary amines, e.g. 2-(dimethylaminomethyl) phenol, 2,4,6-tris (dimethylamino methyl) phenol, benzyldimethylamine, N,N-dimethylaniline, or N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine, and imidazoles or their derivatives having a melting point ≤ 180°C. A metal borofluoride, e.g. Zinc or aluminum borofluoride, is added to the mixture to adjust the pH 2.0W10.5. The complex compound thus formed is used as a curing accelerator for epoxy resins.
