NEW MATERIAL:An antiulcerative substance having specific uv and ir spectral absorptions shown in the figure 1 and figure 2 and having elemental analysis values of C 41.94%, H 5.77%, N 10.44%.
USE: Antiulceratives.
PROCESS: Cells of b acteria, belonging to Bifidobacterium genus, e.g. Bifidobacterium infantis S-12 strain (FERM-P No. 3948), are disintegrated and centrifuged. The precipitate comprising the undisintegrated cells and the cell walls is removed to isolate the water-soluble supernatant fraction. Then the supernatant fraction is dialyzed with water or a salt solution and then freeze-dried to give the objective material.
