Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A monoazo compound of formula I, having an α-modification crystal structure.
USE: A dye having excellent color fastness to light, and capable of dying polyester fibers or mixed fabric of natural fibers such as cotton, silk and wool and polyester fibers, in bright blueish red color.
PROCESS: The β-modification of a monoazo compound obtained by the ethylation of the compound II with diethylsulfuric acid, is converted to the objective compound having strong X-ray diffraction peaks at (2θ=) 6.9°, 8.8°, 9.4°, 11.1°, 13.5°, 19°, 20.4°, and 23.7°, and moderately strong peaks at 16.2°, 18.4°, 21.8°, 22.8°, 25.1°, 27° and 28.9°, by heating at about 80W140°C, pref. 120W135°C for 0.5W4hrs, in an aqueous medium, in the presence of a dispersing agent comprising a concentrate of sulfide pulp waste, pref. containing as main constituents, a condensate of naphthalenesulfonic acid and formaldehyde, and sodium ligninsulfonate.
