Abstract

PURPOSE:To regulate the surface finishing degree by turning a light transmitting element about its optical axis during the surface roughening process. CONSTITUTION:An endless belt 6 is pressed against four light transmitting elements 4 placed between a block 2 and the flange 3a of a stopper 3 so that the elements 4 are turned clockwise about respective optical axes as the endless belt 6 is driven in the direction as indicated by the arrow. Pairs of jet nozzle 10 and suction nozzle 11 are provided for a surface plate 1 with each pair corresponding to an element 4. The jet nozzle 10 jets a liquid or air containing an abrasive against the surface of the element 4 and the suction nozzle 11 sucks in the same.
