Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst which is useful for preventing public pollution, etc., as well as having excellent characteristic properties and capable of uniformly supporting catalytic metals, by supporting catalyst metals uniformly on a support by the procedure in which a flat support is dipped in a solution of a noble metal salt and an organic acid with carboxyl group in a solvent with hydroxide group, dried, and then reduced.
CONSTITUTION: A noble metal salt, e.g., a chloroplatinate, and an organic acid with carboxyl group, e.g., malic acid, citric acid, etc., are dissolved in a solvent with hydroxide group, e.g., water, ethanol, etc., and then the solution is supported on a flat alumina plate covered with γ-alumina uniformly or a flat glass fiber mat support, dried, and reduced in a continuous drying and baking apparatus. The catalyst thus obtained, having noble metals uniformly and stably adhered to the surface of the support, displays excellent catalytic characteristics.
