Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover mainly oil components from washing treated liquid by adsorbing selectively the oil components with an ionized urethane foam.
CONSTITUTION: Waste water produced by the treatment of washing treated liquid contains effective components such as domestic detergents or a treated liquid from dewaxing stage of plating. The waste water is treated with an ionized urethane foam having cation group. Oil components in a treating bath is adsorbed by the ionized urethane foam to recover detergency effective components. The ionized urethane foam having cation group used in this process is rigid or semirigid polyurethane foam adsorbent which is disclosed in co-pending Patent Application No. 117651/1976 specification. When oil particles are contacted with the surface of the urethane foam having cation group, the surface charges of the ionized particles of oil are neutralized by the action of the cation group, thereby emulsion is broken. The oil components are well adsorbed by the celluler structure of the open cell of the urethane foam, and the treating bath is kept always in clear state. In twice or three times consective operation, the same washing effect can be obtained by the addition of a very small amount of detergent.
