Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the staining of tea processor with tea incrustations, to improve the efficiency of tea processing, and to prepare high quality tea product, by covering particular parts of the processor contacting with tea leaves with specific PVC polymer.
CONSTITUTION: Movable parts or stationary parts of a coarse rolling machine or a medium rolling machine, e.g. a rotating shaft 3, rolling arms 5, etc. are constructed or covered with a specific PVC tube 9 having a thickness of 1W2mm. The PVC polymer is a soft PVC composition having an average polymerization degree of ≥ 1500 (pref. ≥1700) and an A-hardness of 40W80 measured by ASTM-D2240, or a semi-hard or a hard PVC composition having an A-hardness of 35W85 measured by the above method. The polymer may contain ≤50wt% of other units. The processor reduces the suspension time necessary to remove the attached tea incrustations, and gives the tea product having excellent flavor and taste.
