Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a seed-time error at the time of the track follow-up operation of a magnetic disk unit by automatically compensating the variation of the position error signal of a servo-transducer for speed detection by a microprocessor.
CONSTITUTION: At the zero-cross point of a position error signal of subtracter circuit 5, a pulse is generated 14 and then supplied to microprocessor 15 to set register 16. The output of this register 16 turns ON-OFF a switch in resistance selector 10 to determine the resistance value. Taking variation of the core, etc., of the transducer into consideration, microprocessor 15 selects the resistance value of resistor 10 on each start of the seek operation of transducer 2 to vary the control voltage of AGC circuit 3, thereby elminating an influence of a difference in gradient between internal and external circumferences. Consequently, a seek-time error can be removed.
