Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a speaker whose directivity is controlled by decreasing a sound- pressure level in a direction, deviated from an axis perpendicular to a diaphragm by a fixed angle, to that on the axis by a fixed value over a broad frequency range. CONSTITUTION:Circular diaphragm 6 and doughnut-shaped diaphragm 7 are arranged concentrically and supported by fixed parts 11 and 12 through free edges 8, 9 and 10. Respective diaphragms are independently driven by voice coils 13 and 14. As for the driving of this unit, both diaphragms 6 and 7 are vibrated differing in phase in a low-frequency range, and only diaphragm 7 is driven in a middle frequency range; and diaphragms 6 and 7 are vibrated in phase in both middle and high-frequency ranges, and only diaphragm 6 is vibrated in a high-frequency range. In this way, a speaker unit can be obtained which fulfills the purpose.
